SE Queensland Clinic

On 27th June, Jason arrived at Paloma Equestrian Centre, Caboolture in his newly renovated luxury city unit on wheels, accompanying him was his dedicated and amazing student Shonnie Inger and their horse’s Mirumbi and Swampy.

They had driven from Melbourne, leaving there on the 14th June, the 4 of them had travelled up to Qld through NSW via Albury, Port Macquarie and Byron Bay. They all arrived safe and refreshed.

The plan for me was to fly into Brisbane during the afternoon of the Friday prior to the clinic, unfortunately there was a traffic accident on the Freeway on the way to the airport and her flight was missed. ☹

I was able to grab a flight an hour later, but not without some stress and arriving into Brisbane and peak hour traffic.

Shonnie had made an awesome dinner, there was some wine drunk and an official luxury city unit on wheels warming was had. 😊

The commencement of the clinic was the following day, we had made a sponsored link on Facebook and had a fabulous result in interested persons, unfortunately for our first one numbers were small.

We had 5 wonderful participants, Tammy, Terry, Susan, Kirsty and Tracy. Supported by a couple of spectators.

The first session of the day is the introduction where you get to personally meet us and find out a little more about what we do and where we have come from, then the riders introduced themselves and how they have got to be where they are at. This is a wonderful time of insight for all of us.

I follow this with a presentation on the Legerete Training Scale and the overall meaning and the importance of it.

The group participated in the insightful Balimo (Balance in Motion) chair session.

This was followed up with an introductory educational session of the Cavesson with the horses.

The afternoon of the first day is then taken up with each rider either having a lesson with Jason or myself.

That evening thanks to Tammy and Terry’s organization we had a dinner with a PowerPoint presentation at the Caboolture RSL. It is an insightful presentation called “Joining the Dots” between the horse’s posture and how to achieve it under saddle.

Sunday morning had Jason presenting a mindset session with all the riders titled “How do you prepare yourself and your horse for a session?”

After a short break it was back to working with the horses, once again everyone was in the same group to learn from each other. The session was called the Education of the Mouth process, the horses are always great teachers for all of us. This led into some of the more experienced combinations moving into the in-hand work.

The final session for the weekend was once again all the riders having a private lesson with either Jason or Leanne on a topic most relevant from the information presented prior.

There were some wonderful and exciting changes in all the combinations, and we can’t wait to get back up to Paloma Equestrian Centre in October to see the riders again.

Until next time.
